AXIA at BIOMAC Review Meeting 18M

AXIA attended the 18 months BIOMAC consortium and review meeting on 21 and 22 July, in Thessaloniki, Greece. BIOMAC aims to establish an Open Innovation Test Bed (OITB) Ecosystem capable of upscaling the market-readiness and production of Nano structured bio-based materials (NBM).

Under BIOMAC OITB project AXIA is leading activities under WP6, related to the Value Chain assessment and Decision Support Tool. The objective of the bio-based polymers developed during the project is to demonstrate an attractive and sustainable production path that valorises properly the biomass feed. These activities involve the systematic integration of biomass fractions, intermediate monomers and final polymers, taking into consideration all the available finite uses by using optimisation models to solve and predict optimal solutions simultaneously. Using process synthesis and optimisation of paths, AXIA will undertake a superstructure approach with optimisation technology considering mass and energy balances that are linked to existing and potential units under consideration.

Moreover, AXIA will support exploitation and dissemination activities as well as participate in activities related to the BIOMAC open call.

During the meeting AXIA presented their work during the last 5 months, expected outcomes during project implementation and activities planning for the next 6 months. It was also an excellent opportunity to meet up with other partners of the consortium in person and exchange opinions and upcoming collaboration.
