AXIA Innovation Participates in Stakeholder Event, Showcasing LIGNICOAT Project at “Bio-based Innovations for Industrial Applications”

AXIA Innovation, a key partner in the LIGNICOAT project, recently participated in a stakeholder event organized by the PERFECOAT and CHAMPION projects. The event, titled “Bio-based Innovations for Industrial Applications,” took place in Brussels, Belgium, on April 4, 2024, and provided a platform for showcasing the latest developments in bio-based solutions for various industrial sectors.

At the event, AXIA Innovation highlighted its pivotal role within the LIGNICOAT project, specifically focusing on the dissemination and exploitation work package. The project aims to revolutionize the coatings industry by exploring lignin-based solutions for fire protection and environmental sustainability.

One of the highlights of the event was the presentation by IRIS Coatings, on LIGNICOAT lignin-based clear biobased coating for fire protection. This innovative solution promises to offer superior fire protection while utilizing renewable and sustainable resources.

In addition to IRIS Coatings’ presentation, AXIA Innovation showcased a poster featuring results from the LIGNICOAT project. The poster emphasized the project’s advancements in lignin-based coatings, particularly in terms of fire performance and environmental sustainability supported by information coming from cone calorimeter test and life cycle assessment performed in the project.

The stakeholder event, jointly organized by the CHAMPION and PERFECOAT projects, brought together industry experts, researchers, and policymakers to discuss the potential of bio-based solutions in various applications, including coatings, paints, adhesives, and detergents. Sessions throughout the day covered topics ranging from end-user perspectives to sustainability assessments and industrial applications.

With presentations from organizations such as the European Commission and Circular Bio-based Europe (CBE JU), attendees gained insights into the latest developments and upcoming trends in the bioeconomy sector.

The event also provided a platform for networking and collaboration, enabling participants to exchange ideas and forge partnerships for future initiatives in sustainable industrial innovation.
